Sarin Suares, a 27-year old management executive living in
Gurgaon, has over 1,500 friends from school, college and office with
whom he interacts regularly. As 'friend management' can be quite
challenging for many young people, the development of online social
networking has revolutionised how they keep in touch. Suares uses
linkedin.com for business contacts, orkut.com for friends and
ryze.com for both. These are the so-called social networking sites
which use the principle of six degrees of separation. People meet new
