Article: Bids on domes unlikely to pass

PORT: Second round of offers to rid Terminal Island of storage structures is likely to begin Friday.

Offers submitted by seven developers to demolish a pair of 12- story-high "bubble" domes on Terminal Island are expected to be soundly rejected Thursday, forcing the Los Angeles harbor commission to put out another call for bids.

The three developers who submitted the lowest bids were "nonresponsive," meaning they likely did not conform with the city's hiring or contractual standards, according to a port report.

A second round of bidding is scheduled to begin on Friday, according to port officials.
