Article: Redlands police officer participates in National Forensic Academy exercise

Rick Dysart, an officer with the Redlands Police Department, took part in a recent University of Tennessee National Forensic Academy training exercise that combined the elements of a simulated plane crash, real bomb detonations and a trail of drugs and murder.

The exercise was made possible by internationally acclaimed author Patricia Cornwell.

Dysart and 15 other NFA students worked into the afternoon July 20 at UT's Forest Research and Education Center in Oak Ridge, Tenn. They pieced together parts of a puzzle a mock drug deal gone bad and a complicated crime scene that served as their final exam.
