Article: Loma Linda council orders study of South Hills initiative

The consequences of an initiative that would protect most of the 3,000 acres in the South Hills from development will be analyzed by city officials.

City planners and attorneys will prepare a report that will examine the initiative's fiscal impact, its consistency with the city's General Plan, its effect on land use and other issues.

The City Council on Tuesday night chose to request the report rather than adopt the initiative as law or call for an election.

The report will be received by the council July 25. On that day, the council is likely to vote to place the initiative on the Nov. 7 ballot.
