Bowl Championship Series (BCS) officials won't officially announce
the pairings for the four major bowl games until Sunday, Dec. 4,
after all regular-season and conference title games are played
The champions of the six BCS conferences Atlantic Coast (ACC), Big
East, Big Ten, Big 12, Pacific-10 and Southeastern (SEC) receive
automatic berths. The teams for the two at-large berths will be
selected by the bowls from a preapproved list from the BCS. If Notre
Dame has nine wins and is ranked in the Top 10, it automatically
receives one of the at-large bids.
For the 2005 season, the Rose Bowl hosts the BCS title game on
Jan. 4 between the teams ranked first and second in the final BCS
rankings. ...
