A burned cross was placed early yesterday on the front lawn of a
Northwest Washington woman who has been active in community patrols
against drug dealers, several neighbors said.
The charred 3 1/2-foot-tall cross was found by a neighbor at
7:30 a.m. lying flat in front of the house in the 4100 block of
Third Street NW.
However, it was interpreted as a warning to Patricia Kelly and
several members of an Orange Hat patrol to stop their activities,
neighbors said. Kelly was contacted at her workplace in Bethesda
yesterday afternoon about the discovery.
