Sacramento lawmakers may bar a common food additive found in shortening, baked goods and french fries because Californians are apparently incapable of making sound dietary decisions.

Republican Bonnie Garcia of Cathedral City has proposed banning trans fats from restaurants and other establishments that sell food, and her legislation is expected to pass. She got the idea from New York City, which recently banned trans fats from restaurants.
