LONG BEACH - City Manager Jerry Miller on Thursday submitted a
resignation letter to the mayor and the City Council, a move that
comes months after Miller announced his intentions to top city
managers at a retreat.
"This is something I talked about a long time ago," Miller said.
"I feel great. I'm very happy about my decision. I feel that I've
left this organization in the strongest shape I can leave it in."
Miller's last day will be July 7, but he will leave the office May
31 to go on vacation. Assistant City Manager Christine Shippey, who
said she will apply for the job, will act as the interim city
manager.
