Article: Suspect surrenders to San Gabriel police

SAN GABRIEL A 74- year-old San Gabriel resident suspected of a fatal hit-and-run traffic accident surrendered to police after they made his picture public through media outlets, authorities said Wednesday.

Emmanuel Verdugo turned himself in to police at about noon Monday, police said. He was booked for felony hit and run and released on $10,000 bond.

Verdugo is accused of driving the car that struck 54-year-old Wen Di Gao of San Gabriel on Aug. 26, in the intersection of Del Mar Avenue and Commercial Center Drive in San Gabriel. Gao died from his injuries that day at the hospital.
