ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST -- The U.S. Forest Service will have an
armada of firefighting equipment on alert today when about 15 Millard
Canyon cabin owners will be allowed in to an area of the Angeles
National Forest closed due to extreme fire danger, officials said.
The cabin owners were given special access permits allowing them
to return to their cabins to retrieve belongings and do fire
clearance, Sherry Rollman, a Forest Service spokeswoman, said.
They will only be allowed in for four hours and will be under the
watchful eye of law enforcement. A helicopter, water tanker and
firetrucks "are being positioned for immediate response, should the
need arise,' Rollman said.
