Article: Sheriff's department response time worries S. El Monte

SOUTH EL MONTE - Longer response times and increases in graffiti and auto thefts have left some South El Monte officials disheartened, and they want answers from the sheriff's department.

"We have the worst response time in the San Gabriel Valley and a significant increase in auto thefts," said Councilman Hector Delgado. "That is not acceptable."

Council members have scheduled a town hall meeting to address crime and safety concerns at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Senior Center, 1415 Santa Anita Ave.

Since its incorporation in 1958, South El Monte has contracted with the sheriff's Temple Station for law enforcement.
