BELLEVUE, Iowa - A new preschool program for the Bellevue
Community School District will have special-needs students and their
regular-education peers studying together and learning from each
other.
District officials hope all students will acquire more than
academic skills through the "reverse integration" program.
"The regular-ed students will benefit from the in-school, pre-
academic emphasis, and the special-needs students will progress from
the interaction with the regular-ed students," said Bellevue
Elementary Principal Marion "Junior" Miller.
The school district started an early-childhood special-education
program two years ago for 4- and 5-year-olds with special needs. The ...
