Georgetown professor slated to speak at Loras
The Loras College philosophy department will welcome the Rev.
James Schall, professor in the department of government at Georgetown
University, for a lecture at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Hoffmann
Auditorium, St. Joseph Hall of Science.
Schall will share his reflections in his lecture "On the Sum of
Total Human Happiness."
There is no admission fee for the lecture, which is open to the
public.
The notion of human happiness originates with Samuel Johnson and
signifies that all creation is good. St. Thomas Aquinas suggests that
we are ordered to praising as well as understanding this good. Schall
will address both of these ideas and argue that ...
