Inexpensive Quad City International Airport flights are
challenging the Dubuque Regional Airport to keep down local ticket
costs.
Two discount air carriers, AirTran Airways and American Trans Air,
are driving down the ticket prices at the Quad Cities airport in
Moline, Ill. At times, they push Dubuque airport and travel officials
to haggle airlines for lower local ticket fares.
"We want to beat them or be relatively close to some prices," said
Andrew Perry, manager of the Dubuque airport.
The average airfare from the Quad Cities airport is $230 - 58
percent lower than the $363 average Dubuque fare, according to a Jan.
