Some parts of the tri-state area received as much as 7 inches of
snow during Tuesday night's storm.
According to the National Weather Service, portions of Dubuque and
Jo Daviess (Ill.) counties received 7 inches of snow - the most
during a single storm this season.
Dubuque averages 7.7 inches of snow throughout March, according to
state climatologist Harry Hillaker.
"Typically, we can receive a major snowfall in March or April,"
Hillaker said. "You have more moisture coming up to the state than at
other times of the season and occasionally it is cold enough to make
it snow."
