Last August, I taught a digital photography course at the Maine
Photographic Workshops in Rockport, Maine.
I wanted to give the 12 students an overview of what's involved in
taking, making and printing pictures - in the field and in the
digital darkroom. After the first day, most of the class simply
wanted to learn Photoshop tips, tricks and techniques - all while the
sun was shining brightly on the picturesque landscapes and seascapes.
The students were enamored of endless creative and correcting
possibilities of the digital darkroom. They preferred to work on
computers rather than engage in the most important aspect in becoming
a good photographer - taking a picture.
