Article: Delegates tout conservation; Iowa Farm Bureau opposes increases in property taxes

As usual, Iowa Farm Bureau Federation members reiterated their
opposition to increased property taxes when they gathered in Des
Moines earlier this month. When delegates ended their work on Dec. 4,
they passed a motion calling for an end to property tax increases.
State budget shortfalls the past three years have resulted in
state funding to local governments falling by about $240 million,
according to the Farm Bureau. The main source of revenue for local
governments is property taxes.
The issues that held particular interest for Dubuque County
farmers, though, included the conservation programs in the next farm
