Article: Dubuque's Skinner gains another bowling Hall of Fame; State association to honor local organizer

Gene Skinner has had enough time to perfect his Hall of Fame speech, so he should feel much more comfortable this time.

But, deep down, he knows he will struggle a little bit when he steps to the podium at the Holiday Inn Motel in Muscatine, Iowa, today. The 78-year-old will be enshrined in the Iowa State Bowling Association's Hall of Fame eight years after the Dubuque Bowling Association bestowed the same honor on him.

"I'm a pretty sentimental guy as it is," Skinner said this week. "When I gave my speech for the local association, I knew exactly what I wanted to say. But, when I got up there, tears started welling in my eyes, and I just went blank.
