Gene Skinner has had enough time to perfect his Hall of Fame
speech, so he should feel much more comfortable this time.
But, deep down, he knows he will struggle a little bit when he
steps to the podium at the Holiday Inn Motel in Muscatine, Iowa,
today. The 78-year-old will be enshrined in the Iowa State Bowling
Association's Hall of Fame eight years after the Dubuque Bowling
Association bestowed the same honor on him.
"I'm a pretty sentimental guy as it is," Skinner said this week.
"When I gave my speech for the local association, I knew exactly what
I wanted to say. But, when I got up there, tears started welling in
my eyes, and I just went blank.
