KIELER, Wis. - Laura Robertson once joked about dressing up as a
lung for Halloween.
That was when the 18-year-old Kieler resident with cystic fibrosis
worried she might need a lung transplant.
The laughter helped her maintain a positive attitude in the face
of a baffling disease.
"Laughing about it is better than sitting around being 'Poor me,'
" she said. "Things could always be worse."
Robertson and her family will participate in the annual "Great
Strides" cystic fibrosis fund-raising walk on Saturday at Louis
Murphy Park in Dubuque.
"I like raising money for (cystic fibrosis research) and it is
cool to get people involved," she said. "I want to make people more
