KIELER, Wis. - Laura Robertson once joked about dressing up as a lung for Halloween.

That was when the 18-year-old Kieler resident with cystic fibrosis worried she might need a lung transplant.

The laughter helped her maintain a positive attitude in the face of a baffling disease.

"Laughing about it is better than sitting around being 'Poor me,' " she said. "Things could always be worse."

Robertson and her family will participate in the annual "Great Strides" cystic fibrosis fund-raising walk on Saturday at Louis Murphy Park in Dubuque.
