Sunday night, and America is watching television. For all that
TV has changed in the decades since it arrived, and for all the
societal upheaval TV has wrought, one central constant has survived.
On Sunday evenings, though they may have split up into factions
during the day, family members tend to band together before the TV
set as they do on no other night of the week. Monday nights are
about tied with Sundays in attracting the largest number of TV
households each week, but Sunday night shows have the highest ratio
of viewers to sets.
Indeed, of the top 10 shows in the viewers-per-set rankings, all
