WHO CAN doubt that an invasion of Nicaragua is imminent? George
Bush wants Congress to shift $300 million from the defense budget to
aid Nicaragua's newly elected regime. The revival of the Nicaraguan
economy is now a U.S. priority, which means that an array of
experts-urban and rural planners, business leaders, scientists,
economists-could soon be on their way. It is easy to imagine this
army quickly taking shape.
When the invaders land, they will find waiting, in spirit if not
in person, a familiar personage: Tom Monaghan, antiabortion activist,
CEO of the Domino's Pizza empire and owner of the Detroit Tigers.
