Molly McMahon saw what social workers could - and could not - do
in her own home.
Those experiences convinced her to enter the field.
"My mom is a social worker and I have 10 adoptive siblings," said
McMahon, a 20-year-old Des Moines resident who is pursuing a social
work major at Loras College. "I got to the see the system in my house
and I wanted to be a part of it. I want to help the people who are
not getting help."
McMahon represents a local trend, as more students devote their
academic pursuits to social work.
