Let's hear a big round of applause for everyone-the entire
society. And then let's quiet down and consider other methods of
showing respect and appreciation.
Miss Manners has always known that America was a show-business
society. The ability to entertain leads to the highest honors.
Birth is a spectator event. Everyone recognizes that the
requirements of filming anything take precedence over the desires or
convenience of the participants.
Not being willing to make public comments on any subject is
classified as bad citizenship. Not being willing to sacrifice
privacy to satisfy the curiosity of others is treated as subversive.
