When Jay and I visited a church for the first time, a longtime
member wanted to know why we chose this congregation and how we found
it.
Answer to both questions: Surfing the Net.
If a congregation has no Web site, that's tantamount to locking
the church's front door on Sunday morning.
Certainly, determined seekers can see the church's "everyone
welcome" sign, and catch the service times if they drive by slowly.
But entering an unfamiliar church - even for someone like me, who
once wrote about religion for a living - is a highly stressful and
uncomfortable prospect. It's like entering a stranger's home without
ringing the doorbell.
A church with an effective Web site goes a long way toward ...
