CUBA CITY, Wis. -The Fennimore boys basketball team remained
unbeaten Thursday night, defeating Cuba City in a tight 47-45
Southwest Wisconsin Athletic League game at Jerry Petitgoue
Gymnasium.
Fennimore, ranked No. 5 in Division 3, improved to 8-0 overall and
4-0 in SWAL play. Cuba City fell to 3-5, 2-2.
With 1:48 to play, Cuba City's Ben Pickel canned a 3-pointer to
tie the game at 41. Derrick Hubbard answered for Fennimore at the
1:25 mark, draining a trey from the right wing to put the Golden
Eagles up, 44-41.
"They hit a 3 and then Hubbard's 3 was the big shot," Fennimore
coach Mark Fifrick said.
"The pressure was on us and Derrick stepped right up. We hadn't
been hitting very well ...
