BOSCOBEL, Wis. - If the economy is on the road to growth, the
onramp might begin in once-struggling small towns like Boscobel,
where the industrial base is expanding on the shoulders of a lauded
local work force.
The north-ern Grant County city of 3,300 people is in the midst of
an economic growth spurt - more than a decade in the making.
Perhaps best known as the "birthplace of the Gideon Bible" and the
home of the state's toughest prison, Boscobel has diversified its
employer base. And many of those employers are growing.
"There's no doubt we've been on a roll the last five years," said
Ray Saint, director of economic development for the nonprofit
