Article: City to ramp up interest in project?; Group seeks Dubuque's involvement in helping build a $13 million parking ramp for America's River project

The Port of Dubuque could sport the largest parking ramp in the city by 2010 as part of the America's River Phase II project.

The Dubuque City Council will be asked Monday to allow city staff to negotiate with the Dubuque County Historical Society about building the 750-slot ramp estimated to cost $13 million.

City Manager Mike Van Milligen said it would serve as the city's commitment to the project's second phase announced by the Dubuque County Historical Society and the Diamond Jo Casino in the fall. Diamond Jo plans to build a $50 million casino along Bell Street.
