Article: No federal shot in arm for health facility; Failure to approve funding could hurt the new Crescent Community Health Center

A federal funding drought threatens to stunt the growth of Dubuque's community health center.

"What's happened is the budget bill in Congress never got passed," said Kevin Anderson, executive director of the Crescent Community Health Center. "There's not a new budget bill for this year."

Instead, congressional leaders intend to use continuing resolutions to fund already-established programs.

Budget pledges of $300,000 for the Dubuque center and $3.8 million for centers in the Iowa- Nebraska Primary Care Association were included in the proposed - but not passed - legislation.
