A federal funding drought threatens to stunt the growth of
Dubuque's community health center.
"What's happened is the budget bill in Congress never got passed,"
said Kevin Anderson, executive director of the Crescent Community
Health Center. "There's not a new budget bill for this year."
Instead, congressional leaders intend to use continuing
resolutions to fund already-established programs.
Budget pledges of $300,000 for the Dubuque center and $3.8 million
for centers in the Iowa- Nebraska Primary Care Association were
included in the proposed - but not passed - legislation.
"Without that budget bill, all that new funding goes away,"
Anderson said. "In essence, our application (for federal ...
