Article: Tri-state week in review - Woman pleads guilty to shooting boyfriend

In August, police say Mona J. West grabbed her .380 semi- automatic pistol and pulled the trigger - shooting her live-in boyfriend dead at the couple's mobile home near Eastman.

West reportedly then sat by the river and contemplated her next move. Later, she phoned Grant County dispatchers from her friend's home in Bagley, Wis. to tell authorities she shot 43-year-old Gus D. Brown III, according to criminal reports.

A little more than 10 months after her boyfriend was found dead with bullet holes in his back and left eyebrow, she pleaded guilty in Crawford County Circuit Court to first-degree intentional homicide.

Sentencing is set for Sept. 11.
