Swiss Valley Farms recently lost a bidding battle for a major milk
supply contract.
An official with the Davenport, Iowa-based cooperative said other
products will help fill the void, however, and the manufacturer's
Dubuque bottling plant is helping with additional business.
Swiss Valley spokesman Ron Schroder said the co-op recently lost a
lucrative contract to be the private label supplier of white milk to
Midwest supermarket chain Hy-Vee Inc.
Shoppers will continue to find the Swiss Valley brand of white
milk on Hy-Vee store shelves; the co-op will cease to produce Hy-Vee
brand milk.
Without going into specific figures, Schroder acknowledges the
loss was a significant bit of business.
