EAST DUBUQUE, Ill. - Coming off of an impressive road victory over
Warren/River Ridge in its opener, the East Dubuque football team was
defeated by Freeport Aquin, 27-21, in the Northwest Upstate Illini
Conference Upstate Division opener for the Warriors Friday at East
Dubuque.
Aquin improved to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference. East
Dubuque fell to 1-1, 0-1.
The Warriors grabbed a 14-7 lead in the second quarter when Drew
Weber scored on a 60-yard touchdown run. Weber also had a 12-yard
gallop in the first quarter.
Weber finished with 158 yards on the ground on 25 carries.
Cody Gallagher answered for the Bulldogs with 13-yard score, his
second TD run, to tie the game at 14.
