Article: The Effect of Dioxin on Vets

I have been following the dioxin (Agent Orange) controversy since it first hit the pages of The Post in the 1970s. Since then, the pros and cons of dioxin and the effect it has on health have been hammered about with some regularity.

Some of the ironies of the controversy came to mind when I read the May 1 Post. On Page A8 were two stories about dioxin. In one, the EPA wants a further reduction in the dioxin level of white paper products. The other article has a veterans' scientific panel linking more diseases to dioxin. The irony here, of course, is that the EPA appears to be concerned about minute amounts of dioxin in our everyday lives, while the veterans' groups are still fighting ...
