In the latest in a series of acquisitions in its coatings
business, PPG Industries Inc. said Thursday it reached agreements to
buy a California firm's worldwide performance coatings and finishing
unit, and to buy out its partners in a South Korean venture.
PPG said it expects to increase revenue by $400 million a year, or
7 percent, by buying the coatings business from Ameron International
Corp. of Pasadena, and by adding the remaining 50 percent of the
joint venture.
"We're still continuing to explore opportunities for growth over
the next six-to-12 months, mostly in the coatings and optical
business," CEO Charles Bunch said yesterday in an interview.
