Pirates outfielder Chris Duffy has decided to resume his baseball
career four weeks after refusing a minor-league demotion and will
report today to the team's spring-training base in Bradenton, Fla.
Duffy will begin working out Wednesday and remain in Florida until
he gets in "baseball shape," Pirates general manager Dave Littlefield
said. At that point, Duffy will report to Triple-A Indianapolis.
"We're glad to have him back, and we're anxious to have him play,"
Littlefield said Monday afternoon. "We thought of him as a bright
part of our future, and we still do."
The 26-year-old center fielder lost his starting job after a slow
start and was batting .194 when he was optioned to ...
