Article: Senior quarterback gets kick out of success

Hitting target after target via tight spiral, finding one hole after another and making read after read, senior quarterback Brian Castello appeared to be rather sharp during summer workouts.

He overthrew just one receiver in 90 minutes worth of drills and he played with zest that in no way indicated he's in just his third year playing organized football. Castello was always the quarterback in backyard ball, but soccer was his athletic focus -- until his sophomore year of high school.

"In the late '90s, soccer was a winning program around here," Castello said. "I signed up for the freshman football team and didn't go through with it because it was hard leaving soccer; I played since I was 4."
