Ed Slosky has never been really interested in politics. But he
still campaigns for his 1949 running mate, John Konek, as the "best
ever."
"There's no question in my mind that John was the best I've ever
seen," said Slosky, the starting fullback on California Community
High School's '49 WPIAL Class A championship team. "And I mean
anywhere -- high school, college, all of them."
That's high praise coming from a man who was well-respected by his
teammates and who was inducted into the Washington/Green County
Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame this year.
