Jeannette football coach Ray Reitz was confident his team could
defeat No. 1 ranked Greensburg Central Catholic Friday night, he just
hoped his team believed.
They did.
No. 5 Jeannette made believers of its coach and other doubters
around the area by upsetting the top-ranked Class AA team in the
WPIAL and state, 7-2, at a soggy McKee Stadium.
Jeannette's victory, and Yough's victory against Southmoreland,
creates a three-way tie for first place in the Interstate Conference.
All three teams finished the regular season 8-1 overall and 7-1 in
the conference.
Because of the WPIAL Gardner Point tie-breaker system, Greensburg
Central Catholic is seeded one in the conference, Yough is second and ...
