A group working to market the North Side as a family destination
is trying to gauge the impact Pittsburgh's only casino could have on
its plan.
"We're still trying to assess the situation. It all came down
literally minutes before the holidays," said Bill Schlageter,
director of marketing for the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh.
The museum is using a $38,000 grant from the National Endowment
for the Arts to sponsor a design competition aimed at developing
ideas on how to connect the neighborhood's cultural and educational
institutions into a family district, dubbed "the charm bracelet"
because many of the attractions ring the North Side.
