John Van Benschoten has his bags packed. All he needs to know is
whether he'll be heading to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre with Class AAA
Indianapolis or to St. Louis to join the Pirates.
"I wouldn't be surprised either way," Van Benschoten said by phone
this afternoon from the Indians' team hotel in Buffalo. "At this
point, I can't worry about it."
Van Benschoten (3-3, 2.47 ERA) is scheduled to start Tuesday night
for Indianapolis in the finale of a three game-series against
Buffalo. From there, the Indians will go to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
However, the Pirates have a vacancy in their rotation, as Tony
Armas has been placed in the bullpen. Management must decide whether
to move reliever Shawn ...
