Pirates outfielder Chris Duffy grew up a diehard New York Yankees
fan, but he's never stepped inside Yankee Stadium.
"Never been there," Duffy said, with a touch of sadness. "I guess
it's working out kind of weird. The first time I'll ever be there,
I'll play there. That will be pretty special."
On Friday, the Pirates will open a three-game set against the
Yankees. It will the second time the teams have met in the Bronx
since Interleague Play began.
When the Yankees swept the Pirates in June 2005 at Yankee Stadium,
Duffy was playing for Triple-A Indianapolis.
Born in Vermont and raised in Connecticut, Duffy spurned the
Boston Red Sox for the Bronx Bombers.
