For Steve Steed, of Sharpsburg, who wants recipes for doctored-up
baked beans. From Linda Moore, of Cabot, who writes, "This recipe for
Ho-Bo Beans is always a hit. It is from an old church cookbook."
Ho-Bo Beans
1 pound ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1 cup ketchup
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
4 pounds canned pork and beans
1/2 pound bacon, fried, drained and crumbled
Heat the oven to 350 degrees.
In a skillet, brown the meat and the onion. Drain off the fat. In
a bowl, combine the vinegar, mustard, ketchup and brown sugar. Place
the beans in an oven-proof baking dish or casserole. Pour the ketchup
