The question of whether Jack Wilson and Cesar Izturis can co-
exist on the Pirates' roster might not be settled until the
offseason.
The non-waiver trading deadline is a week from Tuesday. But
general manager Dave Littlefield indicated the team might be better
served by waiting until winter to pull the trigger on any deals.
"We're probably more oriented toward more of an offseason trade,"
Littlefield said Sunday.
That's because the Pirates do not have a lot of soon-to-be free
agents, who often are the most obvious candidates for trades.
"We're a much different team than we've been in the past, relative
