Article: Bucs' Van Benschoten adjusts mechanics

John Van Benschoten missed a start last week and began to work on a new beginning.

"You kind of need an overhaul to get it right," he said. "It's basically starting up again."

Van Benschoten, carrying one of the most-bloated ERAs of any starter in baseball, is encouraged with early progress in three bullpen sessions aimed at correcting a flaw in his delivery.

The second-year pitcher (0-4, 8.17 ERA) threw 83 pitches during a bullpen session Sunday. He's scheduled for another workout today before returning to the mound Friday against Philadelphia.
