If Penn State is to fulfill hopes of winning the Big Ten
championship and a national title, it likely will have to pull off
the historic trifecta of beating Michigan, Ohio State and Wisconsin
in the same football season.
Penn State, a program that has posted two national championships
and five unbeaten seasons under Joe Paterno, has yet to beat those
three teams in the same campaign. The 1994 season, when Penn State
swept to a Big Ten title and an unbeaten 12-0 finish, is the only
year the Nittany Lions were able to beat both Michigan and Ohio
State. Wisconsin wasn't on the schedule that year.
Expect Michigan and Wisconsin to be picked ahead of Penn State
when the Big Ten predictions are ...
