Plum schools' business manager takes on 'lean' office

Plum school board President Jeff Matthews said Eugene Marraccini fit the bill as the district's business manager because of his school business experience and knowledge of construction.

It didn't take long to see Marraccini, who started the job Aug. 1, spring into action, Matthews said.

Storms Aug. 9 damaged turf on the high school football field, and district officials scrambled to fix the problem.

"Gene came out of the (administration) building and was on site to offer his thoughts on how to get it fixed," Matthews said. "We were able to do the repairs without having to bid (the work)."

Matthews said the cost to the district is the $5,000 insurance deductible.
