There have been discussions around Bangor lately about food
allergies due in part to a student who has life-threatening
reactions to peanuts and the school's efforts to keep this child
healthy. From the snack shack at soccer games to my own dinning room
table, the discussions have been lively and informative. This has
brought to light shocking information about allergies.
More than 11 million Americans suffer from food allergies. At
each meal, these folks must consider that they might come into
contact with a food that can severely harm them. This is worse for
parents of allergic children. There's no easy way to control what
