Article: Permit approved for Kewaskum salvage yard

The legal battle between the owners of a rural auto salvage yard and Town of Kewaskum officials tentatively ended this week when the town Plan Commission and Town Board approved a conditional use permit for the yard.

The town had filed a lawsuit and 114 citations against Donald Stern and his brother, David, to force the brothers to either close down or clean up the site, known as Don's Salvage Yard, at 3350 E. Moraine Road.

Each citation carried a forfeiture of $375.

The lawsuit asked a judge to order the Sterns to remove junked cars, trucks, parts and other items from the salvage yard and from David Stern's adjacent property, and accused the Sterns of violating zoning laws and of operating ...
