As far as Rosecroft Raceway fans are concerned, Beach Towel is
perfect. For the fifth time in five tries this year, Beach Towel won
at Rosecroft, this time last night in the $316,135 Terrapin Stakes
for 3-year-old pacers.
The winning time was a good 1:54 1/5 on an off track. The track
condition was listed as sloppy after a thunderstorm rolled through
before the first race. But by the time the Terrapin went to post,
the racing surface had improved considerably.
The Terrapin attracted 11 pacers, and for the first time the race
was run in a single division. Because of the large field and the
traffic that normally occurs, many thought Beach Towel-who drew Post
