American views of English life more than 60 years ago feature in
a new book on Goxhill Airfield (pictured). It was a "friendly
invasion" when 2,000 US Army Air Force personnel descended on the
village, outnumbering the local population by two to one.
Villager Ron Parker, who has previously published Goxhill At War
and A Village At War: Goxhill, has compiled the history, drawing on
information from his collection of 25 years, which has grown tenfold
since his last book was published in 1996.
