Seated at the gleaming black baby grand piano's keyboard, bathed
in beams of blue and magenta stage lights, Bob Ballard looks as if
he was made for this corner of The Quarter Note piano bar and
bistro.
In fact, it was made for Ballard, co-owner and resident piano man
in the new eatery, watering hole and live-music nightspot that
opened July 9 at the west entrance to Washington Square Mall.
Mural scenes from Evansville and New Orleans appear in the
shadows behind him as the tall, ponytailed man with the long, thick
fingers plays the piano and croons a bluesy version of "A Foggy Day"
into the microphone on a recent Thursday night.
